Events
In addition to our own initiatives taking place in our various
commercial centers, annual events exclusively created for
Mundicenter take place along educational and recreational lines, of
which the following stand out:
Lights, Camera, Action! - 2010
The event "Lights, Camera, Action" was aimed at children between 6
and 13 years. They learned to produce, perform and interpret their
own movie, with the aim of fostering an awareness of cinematic art.
In interactive sessions of 75 minutes, the children participated in
various activities experiencing the emotions of the actors,
directors, producers and other professions related to the 7th Art.
Within "Discover the World of Cinema," learned through play and with
the help of monitors how the images appear on the screen, how to
make an animation, how were the projections of the cinematographer,
what is a "praxinoscope" like, how to play with shadow puppets and
many other curiosities. "Create Your Character" was the space where
the children were dressed up and dressed by other children according
to the chosen script. The space "Lights, Camera, Action" was a
mini-studio footage, which set the stage, choose the lights and the
soundtrack according to the selected tab.
There was also an exhibition space "A Brief History of Cinema",
where objects can be observed and photographs alluding to the
history of cinema.
This initiative was done in partnership with the Portuguese
Cinematheque and the School of Theatre and Film and was opened to
schools (students of 1st and 2nd cycles) and all children who visit
the malls Mundicenter Shopping Centres (Oeiras parque, Odivelas
Parque, Arena Shopping, Braga Parque, Spacio Shopping and
Amoreiras).

A Day at the Circus – 2008
Mundicenter Shopping Centres, with the with the support of several
circus companies, promoted a trip to "World Circus” with the aim to
teach kids and adults about the universe that comprises lively and
colorful circus costumes, promoting the development of children's
imagination and provide fun and creative moments.
Children participated in activities under the guidance of monitors
and done a tour of the entire event. In addition to games, drawings
and other activities, children learned to do magic tricks and tried
out clothing and accessories clowns themselves assuming the role of
two of the leading figures in the circus – the magician and clown.

Internacional Polar Year – 2007
Grupo Mundicenter and the Portuguese Committee for the International
Polar Year 2007-08, through a Cooperation Protocol, organized an
event that took place in the Mundicenter shopping centers in the
scope of the International Polar Year celebration, that encompassed
the period from March 1 2007 to March 1 2009- the Polar Regions and
the environmental balance of the Earth.
A fundamental exposition that demonstrated the richness and
strategic importance of two unique areas of the planet.
A unique opportunity to find out what happens in the Arctic and in
Antarctica at the level of climate change, about ecosystems, the
living conditions of polar populations and the consequences for
Portugal and the rest of the Earth, prevention means and many other
interesting subjects.
The theater show and other fun activities complete the discovery
track of the frozen ends of the planet.

The Wonderful World of Puppets – 2006
This initiative is especially meant for child audiences and
represents a true voyage to the magical universe of shadows and
paper and wood puppets.
The project gathers various activities in one assumedly educational
and fun proposal and seeks to educate the public on the fantastical
and imagination-filled environment that involves the history of
these entertaining figures.
This way, it will be possible to view the varied contents of the
exposition, participate in workshops on puppetry techniques and
attend fun and magical puppet shows.
Of the various institutions that keep the story of puppets alive and
participate in the initiative, in addition to the Museu da
Marioneta, are the Lisbon Cultural Association of Puppets, the Porto
Puppet Theater, the Mandragora Theater and Puppets, S.A. Marionetas-
Theater and Puppets and The Puppets of Sto. Aleixo (belonging to the
Evora Drama Center).
With this project, Mundicenter opens a "jack in the box" of the
secrets of puppets, demonstrating a complete vision of the imaginary
world, where historical information and time of great fun are
included. At the same time, Mundicenter contributes to the spread of
a popular art that reminds us of a world of oral tradition and
favors greater development between the national group of puppet
companies and children.

Kids in the Moon – 2005
This activity was integrated into the Mundicenter strategy as a
citizenship enterprise, contributing to the cultural and social
development of the community in which it is located.
"Just as ancient travelers would do to discover new worlds, children
should also travel to shopping centers to be exposed to the
mysteries of the Universe", said Prof. Dr. Carvalho Rodrigues during
the presentation of the exposition "Kids on the Moon", promoted by
Mundicenter, in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) and
the Lisbon Astronomical Observatory (LAO). The event took place at
all the Grupo Mundicenter shopping centers- Peiras Park, Moreiras,
Braga Park, Olivais Shopping and Odivelas Park- from June to October
2005.
The event had the purpose of exposing children and adults to the
importance of technology and knowledge about the universe,
portraying some aspects of the odyssey that space exploration made
by mankind represents and providing visitors with a unique and
educational event that is fun at the same time.

Collection of “Endowment of the Heart ” Toys - 2004
The “Endowment of the Heart” campaign had strong public loyalty,
whose participation exceeded expectations- 39,900 toys were
collected which benefited 200 institutions.
The success of this initiative is also due to the actions of the
Municipal Chambers of Lisbon, Odivelas, Oeiras, Braga, and Porto,
responsible for the collection of the toys in malls and for their
distribution together with the institutions, and to the role of the
campaign ambassadors, the actor Diogo Infante and the musicians
Maria João and Mário Laginha.

“Rock in Rio - Lisboa” – 2004 Sponsorship
Mundicenter established a partnership agreement with Better World
for the organization of the first Portuguese version of the greatest
rock and pop festival in the world, Rock in Rio, called "Rock in
Rio-Lisbon", that took place in the City of Rock, Bela Vista, in
Lisbon, on May 29th and 30th and June 4th, 5th, and 6th 2004.
Through this agreement, the Mundicenter commercial centers-
Amoreiras Shopping Center, Oeiras Park, Olivais Shopping Center,
Odivelas Park, Braga Park, and the Campus S. Joao Galleries, in
Porto, became Official Rock in Rio Shoppings-Lisbon, being able to
use this brand designation for institutional and commercial purposes.
In entering into this partnership, Mundicenter, in terms of the
citizenship enterprise, also makes a contribution to a social cause.
Close to 5% of the cash receipts resulting from ticket sales,
sponsorship, and merchandising of Rock in Rio-Lisbon brand products
benefited Childreach, an international organization that helps
millions of children around the world.
